    left-right politics
hey all. so me and one of my co-workers where talking about people being related on a left and right political spectrum. he believed that the majority of the people would make a bell curve form on the graph. i really dont know rather it would be a bell curve, a stright line or anyhing else. so i want anyone who is reading this to take this small question test so i can see this for myself.

there are 15 questions. answer each question with the numbers 1-5. 1 representing the farthest to the left, 3 being in the middle, and 5 being the farthest to the right. so a 2 is left/middle and a 4 is right/middle. so for example...

    1. 3
    2. 5
    3. 1
    4. 2
    5. 4
    6. 1
    7. 5
    8. 2
    9. 1
    10. 3
    11. 2
    12. 4
    13. 4
    14. 3
    15. 5

get it? good. now you can write down your own opinion to a question if you want.

    questions...

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1. Support for the economic interests of the less privileged classes as part of the left, or of the more privileged as part of the right.

    2. Fair outcomes as part of the left, versus fair processes as part of the right. All classic liberalism is process-based, the free market and affermative action is one example.

    3. Specifically, acceptance of the inequalities in wealth and income which result from the free market (right), or redistribution of wealth and income, normally through government intervention funded through taxation (left). Generally, the political debate is about the extent to which the government should (left) or should not (right) intervene in the economy in order to benefit the relatively poor.

    4. In general, whether the government's policy on the economy should be interventionist (left) or laissez-faire (right).

    5. Preference for a larger and more interventionist government (left) versus a smaller government (right). However, this formulation would be disputed by many who, noting the existence of the authoritarian right, would place the general dichotomy between government passivity and government authority along an entirely separate political axis perpendicular to the left-right one. Other possible reasons for the second axis for this dichotomy include the libertarian socialists, anarchists, or the old right. Large and small here refer to policies and attitudes, although the number of government employees is often used as an indicator.

6.Whether the state should prioritise equality (left) or liberty (right). Note, however, that both the left and the right tend to speak in favour of both equality and liberty - but they have different interpretations of each of the two terms. There have been many governments opposed to both liberty and equality, but which are nevertheless characterized as "left-wing" or "right-wing".

    7. Whether human nature and society is malleable (left) or fixed (right), or whether human behavior is determined by nurture or nature. This was proposed by Thomas Sowell.

    8. Whether human beings are naturally good and happy, and evil and suffering are the product of an "unfair" society (left), or human beings are naturally bad and unhappy, so evil and suffering are inescapable elements of the human condition (right).

9.Whether the government should promote secularism (left) or religion (right).

    10. Collectivism (left) versus individualism (right). However, emphasis on personal freedom was one of the hallmarks of the 1960’s counterculture, which is often seen as ‘left’. In religious-secular conflicts, it is usually the secularists who emphasise individual liberty as against collective religious values ("our Christian heritage").

    11. A preference for innovation and change (left) or a preference for conservatism and an insistence that innovations must be justified (right). Although in some countries 'right' and 'conservative' are used as synonyms, this aspect gets surprisingly little attention in discussion of the left-right axis. The American left writer Eric Hoffer was one of those who emphasised it.

    12. Different ways of responding to conflict: conversation (left), negotiation (centre), and force (right). This formulation was proposed by the political philosopher Charles Blattberg. (Blattberg 2001, p.20 et.seq.)

    13. Whether law creates and subordinates culture (left), or culture creates and subordinates law (right).

    14. Support for national independence, autonomy and sovereignty, especially for smaller groups (left), as opposed to support for legitimate states and governments (right). The expression "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" illustrates the usual conflict of attitudes. However movements of the right usually support the sovereignty of their own state, and oppose its erosion. In Europe, support for the European Union came traditionally from the left, and defence of national sovereignty from the right. Euroscepticism is now so common, that it can no longer be identified with left or right.

    15. Support for internationalism and cosmopolitan attitudes (left), as against "narrow" national interest (right). However, economic nationalism is found on left and right.

im back! we will see how long it lasts...
well im at work right now at the hotel. its very slow today. its also been a stressful week...

monday my struts on my car broke while i was in saginaw. i had my friend jeff take a look at my car because on my way to school my car started to shake violently. so we took it to his fire station (he works there) to work on my car in the warm indoors. while i was backing it out of the station my front right tire collaped. so i had to call the tow truck guy and ride with him all the way to my parents house. he was a very hateful guy. i was bummed to because i stayed after classes to play poker with my friends up there but then i had to cancel those plans because of my damn car. i got my car back wensday and it cost me 1000 bucks! (structs, allignment, breaks, roters, tires). but least my car is fixed. i was pissed at my folks for letting them fix it cause i got a few friends that would of done it at like half the cost. so now i owe my folks some cash. somtimes i hate when they push me around. i guess i can only blame myself for that right?

also my family latly has been getting some bad health reports. my uncle had lung cancer so they had to remove part of his lung, my cusion possibly has breast cancer, my mom has had a few surgeries since my last entry and she also had some type of throat cancer that was taken out on monday.

now my cell phone is broken or somthing so i got to go get that fixed...

and i havent been doing so well on my tests latly in school. they are passing but still. and i got all this homework due tomarrow....ugh, stressful week.

good news though is i went to frankenmuth yesterday with becka, mark and danielle. it was goood eatten. to bad most of the stores were closed after we got done with dinner. now i wish i bought some frankenmuth jam when i had the chance.

also went to rachels b day (becka's sister) at their dads house. i can tell the family loves me alot. especially the kids. brian worships me for beating the third bowser on mario 64. and i also played hang man with bailey for about an hour. i wish i could of stayed longer but i had to work.

ohh yeah i got two jobs now. i work at old navy in farmington hills and at the holiday inn express in waterford. just in case some of you didnt know that already. its a busy life but i need the money.

think its time for me to go back to work...catch ya laters.

i got in a car crash the other week, well i hit a sign to avoid hitting the car. good thing it was durring break or i wouldnt of had the time to fix

so it has been forever since i updated...

nothing to new to tell. school is fine, i like most of my classes and there going well.

work has been kind of stressful since we got new bosses that suck, but its part of the job.

so im in the process of writting a book. its gonna be everything there is to know about martial arts. from the history to the impact to culture and media, to religionous aspects, to styles etc. it will take a long time to finish but it is somthing that i enjoy working on so it wont be bad.

after reading all the different religions there are a few that intrest me. especially budism, Taoism, and confucianism. im not a religous person because most of the religions around me i have a hard time believing in. mainly because i see them as full of conterdictions. ive always been in search for somthing that i can believe in. i need to look closer at these three...

me and becka are doing great. we had some rocky steps but i think there behind us now. this weekend we are going to a halloween party and to frankenmuth. should be good times!

    You Are The Champion
    "Don't worry, I got it."

You play as the Hero. You are the one who usually tries to take on the world for any cause you believe in. You are a natural leader in most circles and are not afraid to take that position if a situation calls for it. Others look to you for inspiration and praise you for your acheivements. Even though they love and adore you, however, you are left feeling alone or overwhelmed many times. You're almost always positive and keep your chin up despite any setbacks because you know that you will succeed in the end, no matter how long it takes.

watching svu with rose and becka! its like my new home now! oh wait, it is!

so last night i had my first ninjutzu class yesterday, at first it was weird cause i met my new sensei in a family dinning place and went to his "dojo" after dinner. it turned out it was in his basement. it was wierd cause there wasnt anything that made it look like a training area and he only had 3 other students that came, but when we started i learned quick that he new his stuff and was a good teacher. it was alot of fun and it looks like im gonna be sticking with him for a long time.

on the way back from class last night some Ass hole started to snap at me because i took his parking spot. i totally thought he was going to a parking spot. he rolls down his window and started bitching at me and treating me how hes gonna pull my car out to the road with his truck if i ever do that again. he was obviously drunk so i left. it probley could of been a fight if i picked my words wrong.

tomarrow i got to go get my stomach checked out. they got to knock me out for it because they are gonna shove a camera down my throat to check it out. home afterwards im not drawgy.

so the whole summer since i came back from school ive been with becka. its been gooood times :). im still trying to deal with my parents with me living with becka but they are gonna come around or i have to put my foot down. but i know this is what i want to do. i want to be independent and with becka. shes so good for me and i love her.

i also got my grades back, i passed them all and they were decient. hopfully it will be enough for O.U. if not then next fall i should be for sure able to get into O.U.

ive been also trying to find a full time job all break. its annoying. ive probley sent out about 20 applications now so hopfully ill be able to get a call soon and get some money going.

i dont update much so im gonna try to make a habbit of it...

schools going good. havent had anything serious done yet but the next few weeks ill be swamped is my guess. all my classes are easy except suprizingly french history. i got a test in that class next week and ive only skimmed the chapters. but im sure ill do pretty well. i dont quite care for my karate teacher however since shes always boosting about her abilities and how she can win any fight and kick alot of ass. the class is easy but i find most of her teachings of karate to be very outdated. i know karate is an old martial art and i signed up for it, but i would think that some of the schools of karate would freshen up a bit. i guess it also bugs me that the teacher boosts about her outdated abilities, and the fact that shes never been in a fight before :p. some of the moves are still effective but i so far havent been introduced to anything new that i dont know already.

me and becka are great still. it was our 6 month aniversery this weekend and it was very nice. this weekend ill be at her place. its always nice to see the girlfriend after the week :).

got more ram this weekend for my computer. things run much more smoothly.

this semester ive been playing so much axis and allies with my roomies. got a killer game kickin right now that is very good. my win rate so far is 4 out of 5 and im gonna try to keep it that way!

B day weekend and other stuff
well this weekend was my B day

friday becka came up to saginaw and gave me my birthday presents! 7 of them to be exact. they are

-a leather jacket (i must say i even look hot)
-new shoes (i needed some nice and warm winter shoes, and they match my coat)
    -some silky boxers
-half life 2 (fuckin awsome game! just beat it actually)
-ultima online:samurai empire (havent tried it yet
-new deoderant (my favorite kind that i was running out of. its beckas favorite)
-and a new down blanket (its so soft!)

i truly have the best GF in the world!

saterday was the night of the party in east lansing. we left for lansing and was basicly stuck for 3 hours before the party. basicly having our plans get changed constantly and worrying about parking and where am i staying and stuff. well i finally arrived at the party and it was alright. saw some people i wasnt expecting to see. but about half way though the night my acid reflux kicked in and i had some other troubles with me. i barley drank anything (btw, i left my stuff at the party :( ) but i kept having to go to the bathroom to cough up acid and stuff. this time however my body kept shacking and i kept passing out. i guess i was really worrying becka. so i spent most my night in the bathroom :(. poor way to spend a B day. i left and spent the night at a friends house.

sunday i just settled down most the day. but becka and brandon and his girlfriend holly went out that night and i went for drinks at some pub. that was really great of them concidering that i didnt have such a great time at the party.

ill udate more laters. im going to bed.
